| Due to the National Weather Service’s extreme heat warnings, we proactively increased staffing levels and deployed additional resources to ensure the safety of attendees.
In addition to responding to medical emergencies throughout the event, our crews established a shaded cooling area, distributed bottled water, and provided heat safety information to help reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses.
As temperatures continued to climb, Northern Berks EMS experienced a significant increase in emergency medical calls, both at the event and throughout our service area. Our crews also responded to mutual aid requests from neighboring EMS agencies experiencing similar high call volumes related to the extreme heat.
We encourage everyone to stay hydrated, limit prolonged exposure to the sun, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas, and check on elderly neighbors and other vulnerable individuals during this dangerous heat wave.
Northern Berks EMS remains committed to providing exceptional emergency medical care to our communities, even during periods of increased demand. |
