Schuylkill Valley EMS Community and Business Training Center

Schuylkill Valley EMS is an American Heart Association approved Community Training Center for Basic Life Support Courses.  SVEMS offers classes here at station in our own training facility as well as on the road at your location of choose. SVEMS provides training to all types of civic organizations as well as training for local Schools, and Businesses. Listed below are some of the classes our current training center provides. Course Description: The Heartsaver CPR & First Aid course is offered every month. Those who need just the Heartsaver CPR or just the First Aid only have to attend the discipline required. This is a 7-hour course that will teach the participant how to perform CPR, use of a barrier device during rescue breathing, relieve a foreign body airway obstruction, an introduction to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and provide first aid for acute injuries and sudden illnesses (Child & Infant training by request). This course meets state and national requirements. Your certification will be valid for 2 years.

Course Description: The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid course is a 7-hour special request program. This course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in a child in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Topics include First Aid basics, medical emergencies, Injury emergencies Environmental emergencies, and other first aid topics. This class is recognized by Washington state to fulfill the requirements for child care workers and meets OSHA and WISHA requirements. Your certification will be valid for 2 years.

Course Description: The Heartsaver CPR for Adult, Child, & Infant program is for those needing a certification for CPR but are not professional rescuers. This course is 3-hours, and covers adult, child, and infant CPR, FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction), training in barrier devices, preventing transmission of infectious diseases and an introduction to AEDs. The post-test will cover the discipline learned. Your certification will be valid for 2 years.

Pre and post tests are required to pass. Your certification will be valid for 2 years.

Course Description: The Heartsaver AED for Adult, Child, & Infant program consists of CPR component and instruction surrounding AED use for offices, companies and instructors who have purchased an AED and want to train people how to use it. American Heart Assocation Online Training

The American Heart Association has many training options available to help you.  We have listed the most common requested online/computer based options below, but AHA has many more options. 

Altough you may find many web based programs that offer CPR and First Aid and the ability to print out a card, the only way you can receive an AHA certification card is to use their program(s) and complete a skills check off by an AHA Instructor.
