Dear Community Members:
During the coming weeks, we request that you are understanding as we implement some policies which might be an inconvenience to the community we serve. These policies are to protect our patients, staff, friends and family members. Northern Berks EMS has been planning for the possibility of a Pandemic since January. Until further notice: • Although all of our facilities will remain open, please do not come to any of our locations during this time. • Family members of patients will not be allowed to ride in our vehicles except in very rare circumstances. What you should know: • If you suspect that you have been exposed, DO NOT withhold information from the 911 call taker about your possible exposure. We will respond to all calls for help regardless of whether someone has been exposed or has another medical emergency. Correct information helps our crews prepare and use the proper protection for themselves and the receiving hospital. • Washing your hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub will decrease the likelihood of contracting the virus. N95 masks are in limited quantities and needed by healthcare providers, please do not purchase these for your personal use without a valid reason.
